6-day "Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Tour" Initiated on June 9th
Mumbai, Maharashtra - In commemoration of the 245th death anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the Maharashtra government and the Union Railway Ministry have collaborated to introduce the "Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Circuit" tour. The six-day sold-duration trip, organized under the Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train scheme, will highlight iconic historical sites linked to the Maratha ruler. Devendra Fadnavis, the Chief Minister, will inaugurate the first leg of the journey from Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) on June 9.
The tour itinerary promises a journey through some of Maharashtra's most significant historical landmarks, starting with a trip to Raigad Fort, the former capital of the Maratha Empire and the site of Shivaji Maharaj's coronation. The following days will see visits to Lal Mahal, Kasba Ganapati, Shivsrushti, Shivneri Fort (birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj), Bhimashankar Temple, Pratapgad Fort, Kolhapur, and Panhala Fort.
Pune will serve as a base for a substantial portion of the tour, offering tourists opportunities to explore the city's historical and cultural attractions, including the legendary Shivsrushti theme park showcasing the life story of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 3D. Other scheduled destinations include the pilgrimage site Bhimashankar Temple, the strategic fort of Panhala, and the city of Kolhapur, known for its rich cultural heritage.
"We aim to showcase the significant places in the circuit tour," said Gaurav Jha, Group General Manager of IRCTC (West Zone). He added, "Our objective is to offer a unique experiences for tourists, demonstrating the glorious legacy of the Maratha Empire under Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj."
