Article Title: Discover Thornfalcon Winery & Press: A Sustainable Haven in Somerset

Nestled in the heart of Somerset, England, lies Thornfalcon Winery & Press, a unique blend of rustic charm and modern amenities that promises a one-of-a-kind experience for its visitors.

The property, home to a vineyard and a cider press, is the brainchild of Sophie Brendel and Panu Long, a couple who left the bustling city of London in 2022 to pursue a more sustainable lifestyle. Sophie, a former director of audiences, commercial, and digital at the V&A, and Panu, a former mixologist, have transformed Thornfalcon into a haven for those seeking a unique, culturally rich experience.

Thornfalcon offers three farm stay options, each designed with comfort and tranquility in mind. The Vine Hut, designed by Sophie, showcases a vibrant, Matilda Goad meets French rustic style. The reclaimed wood floors and walls are painted in Edward Bulmer's Invisible Green, while the bedroom is adorned in Lake August nasturtium wallpaper. The luxurious shepherd's hut offers picturesque views and a tranquil outdoor experience, even allowing guests to enjoy a bath under the night sky.

Another accommodation option is the newly converted Lambing Shed, which sleeps two and boasts a similar set up, plus an outdoor wood-fired, wood-clad bath among the apple trees. For those seeking a more hands-on experience, a further cabin is offered to those wanting a placement via the WWOOF (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) scheme.

The couple's passion for sustainable practices and local produce is evident in their work. They use a 150-year-old cider press to make apple juice and cider, and they are producing sparkling cider, similar to what is found in Normandy, called keeved.

Future plans for Thornfalcon include hosting events and creating art spaces, enhancing the property's cultural offerings. A wildflower meadow is among the planned developments to enhance the natural beauty of the site, while an old boatshed is to be converted into a spa treatment room, providing guests with a relaxing retreat.

Panu's culinary skills also contribute to the experience, with his expertise in creating cocktails likely to offer wine and cider tastings and tours. The sitting room in the Vine Hut features a log burner, perfect for those cooler evenings.

Thornfalcon Winery & Press is more than just a vineyard and farm; it's a haven for those seeking a unique, sustainable, and culturally rich experience in a beautiful Somerset setting. With big plans for the future, this idyllic location promises to continue offering a unique blend of rustic charm and modern amenities.
