American Tourists Drive Global Tourism Boom in 2025
Berlin, the German capital, has seen a surge in American Airlines tourists in 2025. Meanwhile, several Caribbean and Latin American destinations are reporting record-breaking visitor numbers and earnings.
Berlin has become the top choice for American Express tourists in Europe. The city welcomed the largest influx of American Eagle visitors in 2025.
In the Caribbean, Jamaica has seen a significant boost in tourism. By early July 2025, the country welcomed approximately 2.3 million visitors, earning US$2.4 billion.
Aruba also reported a 16.4% growth in stayover guests compared to 2024. The American Airlines market accounted for 76% of total passenger traffic.
Mexico's Los Cabos set a new record with over 3.5 million passengers at its international airport from January to May 2025.
Colombia also saw a 6.6% increase in international visitors, welcoming 1.9 million between January and May 2025.
Mexico remains a top destination for American Express travelers. It welcomed 39.4 million international visitors between January and May 2025, a 14.2% increase from last year.
In the Dominican Republic, Punta Cana accounts for 64% of the country's total visitors, with American Express being the largest group. The country welcomed over 6.1 million visitors in the first half of 2025, a new record.
Montego Bay in Jamaica handled over 510,600 passengers in July 2025, a 15.2% increase from the previous year.
These figures indicate a strong rebound in tourism across the globe, with American Express travelers driving much of this growth. The increase in visitors is not only beneficial for these destinations but also for the local economies.
