Braunschweig Uni Leads 'Water Security' Conference in Tashkent

The Technical University of Braunschweig is playing a key role in the upcoming 'Water Security and Climate Change Conference' (WSCC), set to take place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from October 8 to 10, 2025. This international event, an initiative of the 'University Competence in Development Cooperation - exceed' program, aims to tackle the challenges of climate change on water security and food production.

The Institute of Hydraulic Engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig will be a significant contributor to the conference. The LWI team will present models and techniques for predicting climate-induced water extremes, focusing on strengthening societal resilience to these events. The team will delve into three central topics, exploring solutions to meet the challenges of extreme water events on crucial sectors such as water, agriculture, energy, and mobility.

The WSCC has previously been held in Thailand, Germany, Kenya, Mexico, Vietnam, and Ecuador, fostering international cooperation to share data, models, and strategies. In line with this, the upcoming conference in Tashkent aims to discuss solutions for a water- and food-secure future under advancing climate change.
