The Camping and Caravanning Club, a long-standing institution in the world of camping and caravanning, has announced that it will not attend the next two NEC caravan shows scheduled for October 2025 and February 2026. This decision comes as the club prepares to celebrate its 125th anniversary, an exceptional milestone that it plans to make a truly celebratory occasion.

The club, which has had a significant presence at all NEC shows for several years, had historically taken large stands and presented extensively at these events. However, this year, it appears that resources and attention are being reallocated to the anniversary activities. As of now, the club has not revealed specific details about what the 125th anniversary celebrations will include or what plans they have beyond the strategic pause at the NEC shows.

Peter Baber, the Reviews Editor of Practical Motorhome and the website, has been reviewing motorhomes for over a decade. He has been reporting on all new motorhome models that make it to dealer forecourts each season. During the last Motorhome & Caravan Show in October 2021, Bailey had vans from its new Alicanto Deluxe range on display. Last October, Xplore also launched its XC range of tourers at the same event.

These shows at the NEC are popular among visitors who seek tour-enhancing gadgets, a wide range of caravan accessories, and the latest releases from leading manufacturers. The upcoming absence of the Camping and Caravanning Club reflects a strategic choice to prioritize the 125th anniversary celebrations, with more detailed plans yet to be disclosed.

Peter Baber, who has a background in business journalism, having edited a variety of magazines, expressed his excitement about the upcoming anniversary year. "It's an exceptional milestone for the Camping and Caravanning Club," he said. "I'm looking forward to seeing what they have in store for their celebrations."

Baber, who has twice been shortlisted for a Caravan Writers Guild award, has a diverse range of interests outside of motorhomes. Apart from going on motorhome trips, he likes trying to write novels, cooking, throwing the pot, and has just taken up tennis.

As the Camping and Caravanning Club gears up for its 125th anniversary, it is expected to make a significant impact in the camping and caravanning community. With plans yet to be revealed, one thing is certain: the club intends to make its anniversary year a truly memorable occasion.

  1. The Camping and Caravanning Club, known for its extensive reviews, will be focusing on its 125th anniversary celebrations instead of attending the next two NEC caravan shows in October 2025 and February 2026.
  2. In addition to caravans and motorhomes, the lifestyle of a club member might also encompass interests in fashion-and-beauty, food-and-drink, home-and-garden, and travel, as demonstrated by the diverse hobbies of Reviews Editor Peter Baber.
  3. As the Camping and Caravanning Club prepares for its 125th anniversary, visitors can expect not only caravan-related events but possibly lifestyle-related activities such as fashion shows, gourmet food tastings, gardening workshops, and travel expos, given the club's anticipation of making the anniversary a truly memorable occasion.
