In the heart of Central Asia, Astana is making waves as a burgeoning tourist destination. The city has been attracting a significant number of foreign visitors, with over 180,000 tourists arriving in 2025, marking a notable rise from previous years.

The tourist geography is diverse, with Russia, China, Turkey, USA, Germany, Belarus, and Uzbekistan among the top countries represented. This international influx is driven by Astana's development in various tourism sectors, including business, event, and medical tourism.

Foreign patients seeking treatment in Astana have found solace in the city's renowned healthcare facilities. Oncology, dentistry, cardiology, neurosurgery, reproductive medicine, and comprehensive health checks (check-ups) are among the most popular treatments among these patients. In 2024, around 4,500 foreign guests received qualified medical care in Astana.

Astana's healthcare sector is not just about medical treatments; it's also about innovation. The Expert Council, comprising representatives from various sectors of the tourism industry and renowned specialists, is actively working on developing innovative tourism programs and strategies that meet the highest quality standards in the tourism sector.

The city regularly hosts familiarization tours of leading clinics certified by the international standard Joint Commission International (JCI) for international agents and doctors. This commitment to quality and innovation is evident in the city's healthcare offerings.

Beyond healthcare, Astana is also making a name for itself in the entertainment industry. The Backstreet Boys concert, scheduled for September 21, is expected to draw an audience of over 30,000. Interestingly, the recent Jennifer Lopez concert attracted over 30,000 viewers, with 10,000 being foreign tourists. The IFLA Congress, one of the notable events, attracted over 1,600 delegates from 114 countries. International specialists from various fields such as urban planning, tourism development, and cultural heritage management have joined the expert advisory group for tourism development in Astana, contributing through strategic planning, providing expertise on sustainable tourism practices, and advising on integrating cultural and economic factors to enhance the city's tourism potential.

The average daily spending of a tourist in Astana is 118,000 tenge. With such a thriving tourism sector, Astana is poised to continue its growth and attract even more visitors in the future. As the city prepares for the concert of the legendary group Backstreet Boys, it's clear that Astana is a city on the move, offering a unique blend of medical, business, and entertainment opportunities for tourists from around the globe.
