Comprehensive Guide to Electric Vehicle Infotainment Systems: Nearly All the Essential Information You Require

In the realm of electric vehicles, Polestar is making waves with its advanced infotainment systems. The Swedish automaker's latest models, Polestar 2, Polestar 3, and Polestar 4, are equipped with a plethora of displays aimed at making life on the road run smoothly.

The central command centre of these vehicles is a 15.4-inch, frameless centre display in Polestar 4, boasting a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels and a landscape orientation. The Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 feature slightly smaller displays at 12.3 inches and 9 inches respectively, but still offer a clear and immersive viewing experience.

These centre displays host various car and safety functions, adjust settings, and provide digital entertainment offerings. Drivers can enjoy gaming options, such as bite-sized arcade games through the Gamesnack app and more involving gaming titles that can be played with a dedicated gaming controller. During charging breaks, it's possible to watch TV shows on Prime Video, listen to music on Tidal, or catch up on podcasts and audiobooks through Sybel, Audible, or Pocket Casts.

The system can remember the settings and preferences of up to six drivers, including seating and mirror positioning, most-used apps, and favourite playlists. This personalisation feature ensures a comfortable and familiar driving experience for all.

Polestar's infotainment systems also offer seamless integration with Google services. Google Assistant integration is provided by Google itself, as Google Built-In services, including Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Playstore, are directly integrated into Polestar's systems. Setting up Google Home in a Polestar vehicle enables drivers to use Google Assistant to have emails read aloud, reply to text messages, and be reminded of important calendar entries. Google Home Integration also allows drivers to check on the battery charge status, activate climate functions, and control smart home devices.

The first three years of in-car data are included in the price of a Polestar vehicle, ensuring the car remains constantly connected to the Internet. The vehicles also come equipped with a dedicated head-up display that beams important information in front of the driver. The Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 offer an optional head-up display.

In terms of audio, the Polestar 3 comes equipped with a Bowers & Wilkins audio system for high-fidelity music playback. The Breathe app is also available for Polestar vehicles, turning the car into a place of rest and relaxation with calming therapeutic sounds and minimalist visuals.

Polestar 2 supports Apple CarPlay with a wired connection, while Polestar 4 offers wireless connection and Polestar 3's wireless offering is coming soon. The switch between Polestar's menus and Google Play applications is seamless, similar to operating any other tablet.

With ultra-rapid charging capabilities, electric vehicle charging breaks are required less frequently than expected, typically taking around half an hour or less. All in all, Polestar's high-tech infotainment systems are revolutionising the electric vehicle experience, offering a seamless blend of comfort, convenience, and entertainment.
