Cyclist from Spain scheduled to travel to Nizhny Novgorod region
In an extraordinary feat of endurance and adventure, Spanish cyclist Anselmo is currently pedaling his way across Russia, aiming to reach Vladivostok from Spain. His journey, which has captured the attention of social media users, particularly on TikTok, has led him through remote and challenging territories, including the Kamchatka peninsula.
The cyclist, who goes by the name Anselmo, stopped in Voryotyntse, a picturesque location in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Here, he was greeted by locals and foreign tourists alike, including a column of German motorcyclists who enjoyed the region's smoked fish. A young Chinese couple also visited Voryotyntse last year, appreciating the views of the Volga and Sura rivers and the local forest berries.
Anselmo finds Russia beautiful and interesting, considering his journey a challenge due to its length and solitude. He has prepared for the trip by studying the experiences of other travelers and communicates with Russians using an online translator on his phone. The cyclist is currently on the M-7 highway, heading towards Cheboksary and Kazan.
As he progresses, Anselmo may alter his route in Russia after visiting Altai. He plans to take maritime transport to Tokyo, Japan, after completing his journey, and then return home.
While the journey is a realisation of a long-held dream for Anselmo, it also presents significant challenges. Cycling in remote or politically sensitive regions, such as those he is traversing, involves risks including vast distances with limited infrastructure and medical facilities, harsh weather and terrain conditions, and potential political or security sensitivities, especially near border areas or unstable regions.
However, Anselmo's experiences in Russia so far have been marked by friendliness from the locals. As he continues his journey, he is sure to inspire more aspiring adventurers to take on their own challenges and explore the beauty of this vast and diverse country.

I'm not gonna do this kind of adventure right now, as my lifestyle is more focused on office work and travel is limited due to time constraints. However, Anselmo's journey across Russia, showcasing his determination and the beauty of lesser-known regions, makes me dream about a future lifestyle that would allow me to embark on similar travels.
