Flights are currently en route to Sochi, numbering eleven in total.

Flights in and out of Sochi Airport are experiencing delays and disruptions due to a drone attack in Russia's Krasnodar region near the airport, causing widespread flight delays and rescheduling.

Currently, the airport has implemented temporary flight restrictions to ensure safety. These restrictions have led to holding patterns for flights approaching the area, with as many as eleven flights circling around Sochi.

The exact reason for these disruptions remains unclear, but the airport has been forced to delay or reschedule flights, significantly disrupting air traffic flows. Some flights have even been diverted to alternate airports due to safety concerns arising from technical issues or warning signals.

One such instance involved Ural Airlines, which had to divert a flight from Moscow to Sochi to another airport due to an onboard warning signal. Another incident involved an S7 Airlines plane en route to Sochi, which had to circle away from the airport due to a technical glitch and later return to its origin in Novosibirsk. However, it's worth noting that restrictions at Sochi Airport were reported as lifted at that time.

The current situation at the Sochi Airport can be seen in a video available at this link: https://max.ru/shot. The video offers visual content of the ongoing situation at the airport.

As of now, flights from cities such as Kazan, Samara, Yekaterinburg, Ufa, Salekhard, Moscow, and Nizhny Novgorod are still unable to land at the Sochi Airport. The situation remains unresolved, and it is uncertain when normal operations will resume.

This incident reflects the current security and technical challenges impacting Sochi International Airport and its airspace in August 2025. The airport authorities are working diligently to ensure the safety of all passengers and to restore normal operations as soon as possible.

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.

Due to the airport's temporary flight restrictions, many travel plans have been disrupted, affecting people's lifestyle choices, such as vacationing at popular beaches in Sochi, and potentially causing them to experience unfavorable weather conditions at their alternative destinations. The ongoing disruptions at Sochi Airport, resulting from the drone attack and subsequent technical issues, are also impacting the overall travel industry, affecting multiple airlines including Ural Airlines and S7 Airlines.
