German Co-op's Green Roof Success: Cooling Property, Boosting Biodiversity
A property owners' cooperative in Germany has successfully implemented a 200 square meter green roof project, thanks to a grant from the '10,000 Green Roofs' program. The project, initiated by Jürgen Kleine-Natrop and Anna Bobrowski, has significantly cooled the property and improved its view.
The green roof, subsidized with 10,000 euros by the Emschergenossenschaft/Lippeverband, is expected to bring numerous benefits. It will store rainwater, reducing the risk of flooding, and provide food for insects, contributing to local biodiversity. The project was implemented by a company from the garden and landscape sector, requiring minimal maintenance.
Interested property owners can apply for funding at any time via the portal at www.klima-werk.de/gruendachfoerderung. After approval, they have three years to complete their green roof project. The funding program offers up to 50 euros per square meter, with a maximum of 200 square meters per property.
Jürgen Kleine-Natrop and Anna Bobrowski, who led the project, recommend other property owners to follow their example and apply for the '10,000 Green Roofs' funding. The successful implementation of their green roof project demonstrates the potential benefits for both the environment and property owners.
