Haarlem Poets' Decade and a Half Journey: Haarlem Poets to Attend in Osnabrück
On Sunday, August 3rd, at 11:00 AM, a unique literary exchange event will take place in the garden of the Piesberger Community Center, located at Glückaufstraße 1. The event, titled "Poetry Knows No Borders - Haarlem Meets Osnabrück," is being jointly organized by the Piesberger Community Center, the Literature Office of West Lower Saxony, and the Haarlemse Dichtlijn, a group of enthusiastic poets celebrating their 20th anniversary this year.
The event aims to bring writers from Haarlem and Osnabrück together, fostering cross-cultural collaboration and exchange in the realm of literature. The literary exchange will feature readings from poets representing both cities, as well as the West Lower Saxony region.
From Osnabrück and its surroundings, Merle Junkereit, Dorothee Krämer, Svenja Niepel, and Otti Schollek will be sharing their works. Representing Haarlem and its surroundings, Jolies Heij, Marten Janse, Xander Jongejan, and Monika Joras will also be in attendance.
The literary event is part of the Piesberg Base Camp and will include a special reading session with a jazz accompaniment, titled "Word Meets Sound - Osnabrück and Haarlem Read Together with Jazz Accompaniment." The jazz quartet supporting the event will feature Nikolas Weikamp on drums, Milan Gjakonovski on bass, Jonas Hoffmann de Ramos on guitar, and Jill Gräfe on trumpet.
Admission to the event is free, and no reservation is necessary. The event is open to the public, making it an excellent opportunity for literature enthusiasts to experience a blend of cultures and talents. The writers will also present texts created in the joint writing workshop "Schreib.Geschützt" supported by the VGH Foundation.
