International Mercure hotel inaugurated in Romania's Alba Iulia
New Mercure Hotel Opens in the Heart of Transylvanian City
A new chapter has been added to the rich history of Alba Iulia, Romania, with the opening of the first internationally affiliated hotel in its historic center. The Mercure hotel, developed by Dentotal Group, a partner of Accor, is more than just a place to stay - it's a cultural landmark and a prime venue for business events, private celebrations, and tours exploring the city's history.
With 118 rooms, the hotel offers a comfortable stay for visitors. Each room is individually themed around Roman, medieval, and modern periods, reflecting Alba Iulia’s unique heritage. The design incorporates historical elements such as mosaic-style lighting, maps, frescoes, and local crafts, making each stay a journey through time.
The Mercure Alba Iulia is not just a hotel, but also a destination for relaxation. Guests can unwind in the Roman-inspired spa or enjoy a meal at the à la carte restaurant, which offers a blend of Transylvanian and local cuisines. For those planning events, the hotel boasts modular conference facilities that can accommodate up to 500 guests.
Accor, the global hospitality leader with over 5,600 properties across more than 110 countries, integrates Mercure hotels into its ALL lifestyle loyalty program. This program offers access to various rewards, services, and experiences. Mercure hotels are usually found in city centers, by the sea, or in the mountains, targeting travelers interested in local culture and history.
Mercure Alba Iulia adds to Accor's presence in Romania, where the group currently operates 24 hotels and plans to open 18 more by 2027. For more information about the hotel, you can contact Irina Marica at irina.marica@our website.
