IUCN 2025 in Abu Dhabi: Unveiling Major Biodiversity & Climate Initiatives
The IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025 in Abu Dhabi is set to unveil significant initiatives focused on biodiversity and climate resilience. The event, taking place from October 9-15, will feature both in-person and virtual participation.
The UICN Med Center for Mediterranean Cooperation will be at the forefront, presenting a range of projects under five main thematic axes. These include addressing water scarcity, ecosystem restoration, and promoting a regenerative blue economy. Additionally, the center will highlight its support for civil society, agricultural transition, and innovative digital tools.
A key highlight will be the launch of the Mediterranean Blue Natural Capital Facility. This regional instrument aims to mobilize funding for marine and coastal restoration through nature-based solutions. Meanwhile, the Subregional Technical and Scientific Support Center will debut, offering assistance to 44 countries in implementing the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
