Marriott's New Serengeti Safari Camp Offers Unrivaled Wildlife Experience
Marriott International is set to expand its luxury safari offerings in Africa with the upcoming Mapito Safari Camp in the Serengeti, Tanzania. Opening in September 2025, this Autograph Collection property promises an unparalleled wildlife experience.
The new camp, Mapito Safari Camp, Serengeti, Autograph Collection, will boast 16 tented suites, including a 2-bedroom villa, each equipped with an outdoor deck, a fire pit, and a retractable roof. Guests can enjoy a prime location near the Fort Ikoma gate of the Serengeti National Park, along the Great Migration route.
Rates start at $891 per night for single occupancy and $1,425 for double occupancy in October. For those preferring to use Marriott Bonvoy points, expect to redeem upwards of 145,600 points per night for a stay with two people, valuing points at nearly 1 cent apiece.
The camp will offer a range of amenities, including a spa, a fitness center, a swimming pool, and several dining options. A unique restaurant inspired by traditional bonfires will provide a memorable culinary experience. Guests can also participate in daytime game drives, hot air balloon flights, bush dining, and cultural interactions with a local tribe.
This addition to Marriott's portfolio follows the success of the JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge in Kenya. The company plans further expansion, with the JW Marriott Mount Kenya Rhino Reserve Safari Camp and the JW Marriott Serengeti Lodge both slated to open in 2026. These properties promise to offer guests unrivaled access to Africa's iconic wildlife and cultural experiences.
