Medical equipment delivered by TIKA to a family health center in Kosovo

The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has recently provided medical equipment to the Family Health Center in Krusevo, Dragas Municipality, Kosovo. This move is part of TIKA's broader strategy to enhance healthcare access in geographically remote and less accessible areas.

TIKA, a key player in Turkiye's international development efforts, has been actively involved in Kosovo since 2004. The agency's projects span sectors including education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure development. The provision of medical equipment, including electric hospital beds, sterilizers, and IV stands, to the Family Health Center is significant. Attendees included Türkiye's Ambassador to Pristina Sabri Tunç Angılı, Consul General in Prizren Celal Doğan, TIKA Kosovo Coordinator Fulya Aslan, Dragas Mayor Behcet Celadini, Colonel Harun Elitaş (commander of the Turkish Military Representation in Kosovo), members of Parliament, institution representatives, and local residents.

Beyond healthcare, TIKA's projects in Kosovo contribute to the economic development of the region. For instance, agricultural support in Mamusa fosters a more integrated and sustainable impact on the local economy and society.

Angılı also referenced the historical support of Dragas' ancestors during the Battle of Çanakkale over a hundred years ago. He emphasised the peaceful coexistence of Albanians, Gorani, Bosniaks, and Turks in Dragas, expressing feelings of camaraderie and brotherhood. Celadini, the Mayor of Dragas, expressed gratitude towards TIKA and Turkey for their ongoing support.

Diagnosis and treatment will become easier, and the work of health personnel will be significantly facilitated at the new center. The medical equipment provided by TIKA will undoubtedly improve the healthcare services available to the residents of Krusevo, contributing to a healthier and more prosperous community.
