Oberhausen's City Prince Rainer I Celebrates the Return of Carnival

City Prince Rainer I of Oberhausen, a long-time advocate for social work and honorary figure associated with the local carnival festivities, recently visited the Landtag in Düsseldorf. The visit was a significant moment, marking the return of traditional celebrations after a long hiatus due to the pandemic.

Rainer I, who previously served as the director of Lebenshilfe, has dedicated his life to social work. His cheerful nature and commitment to fostering a sense of community were evident as he joined the Landtag, described as being filled with carnivalists.

Accompanied by his entourage, Rainer I's visit to the Landtag was described as impressive. The city's state MPs, Sonja Bongers and Frederick Cordes, were also present and expressed their appreciation for Rainer I's involvement in the carnival celebration.

For Bongers and Cordes, Rainer I's participation in the carnival emphasizes social togetherness and traditional celebration. As they welcomed the return of the carnival floats, they viewed it as a piece of cultural heritage coming back for the citizens of Oberhausen and North Rhine-Westphalia.

Rainer I himself expressed happiness for the people that they could celebrate carnival again. His motto, 'Celebrate, sing, dance together, because everyone is a part of the whole', seems particularly fitting for the idea of carnival. The visit was described as "jecke" (carnivalistic), a testament to the spirit of unity and joy that Rainer I embodies.

The cultural heritage of carnival is being maintained and further enriched through Rainer I's active participation. His role in Oberhausen's carnival celebrations serves not only as a symbol of the festive spirit but also as a driving force behind the city's identity and unity.

As the city continues to celebrate this beloved tradition, the return of City Prince Rainer I to the carnival scene is undoubtedly a joyous occasion for the citizens of Oberhausen.
