The 34th Hanse Sail, a celebrated maritime event, is set to take place in Rostock and Warnemünde, Germany, from August 7 to August 10, 2025. This annual gathering of traditional sailing ships, recognized as the largest in the world, promises a rich programme of events, live music, and special attractions across seven venues from Warnemünde to Rostock’s city center.

Key schedule highlights include the official start of the festival on August 7, with the opening of festivity areas and public viewing of ships. August 8 is packed with events at the Marinestützpunkt in Warnemünde, featuring open ship tours, historic boat rides, military demonstrations, and musical performances.

On August 9 and 10, visitors can participate in traditional sailing outings with numerous ships departing daily for day and evening trips, offering a chance to experience traditional seafaring. The event is mostly free to attend, with optional paid experiences such as sailing onboard traditional ships.

Apart from ship displays and maritime activities, live music concerts and cultural events take place on stages along the harbor and city locations over the weekend. The "Aidamar" and "Aidadiva" ships will be part of the maritime activity in Warnemünde at the passenger pier during the Hanse Sail.

The event is a significant contributor to value creation in Rostock, according to Matthias Fromm, the Tourism Director of Rostock. Nearly 95 percent of the hotel beds in Rostock are booked during the Hanse Sail, as reported by Matthias Fromm.

The Design and Gourmet Market Moby Dick will take place in front of the Kröpeliner Tor in the city center during the Hanse Sail. The event will open on Thursday, August 7th at 4 pm with a traditional keg tapping in the Kurhaus garden in Warnemünde.

Matthias Fromm also stated that the Hanse Sail is the most important tourist event in the northeast. The French ship "Belem" is this year's star guest, offering cruises, open ship events, and a Sunday brunch in Warnemünde from August 6th to 10th. The Hanse Sail will close with a concert by the Pasternack Big Band on Sunday.

Experiencing a diverse lifestyle at the Design and Gourmet Market Moby Dick is a must, as it will be held in front of the Kröpeliner Tor in Rostock's city center during the Hanse Sail from August 7 to 10, 2025. For those interested in home-and-garden and travel, the Hanse Sail offers the opportunity to embark on traditional sailing outings and appreciate the French ship "Belem" from August 6 to 10, with optional brunch experiences in Warnemünde.
