Ninh Binh's Cultural-Spiritual Treasures: Trang An Landscape Complex and the Tam Chuc-Co Le Duo

Ninh Binh, a province in Vietnam, is home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites and two special national monuments. The Trang An Landscape Complex and the Tam Chuc-Co Le duo have been attracting attention both locally and internationally, offering a unique blend of natural beauty and historical significance.

The Trang An Landscape Complex, a breathtaking landscape of vast lakes, majestic limestone mountains, and diverse ecosystems, has been recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With an estimated total economic value of $213 billion, it presents an opportunity for Ninh Binh to boost cultural-spiritual tourism and showcase Vietnam's image to the world.

The Trang An Festival 2024, themed "Visiting Trang An Heritage Region 2024", was organised by Xuan Truong Construction Enterprise at the Trang An Landscape Complex. The festival aimed to celebrate the rich heritage and promote the area's tourism potential.

In addition to the Trang An Landscape Complex, Ninh Binh is home to the Tam Chuc Complex and the Co Le Pagoda. The Tam Chuc Complex, one of the country's largest cultural-spiritual works with great archaeological value, has been designated as a special national relic by the Prime Minister. Archaeological findings at the Tam Chuc Complex include human remains, three ancient graves dating back about 10,000 years, rope pottery from the Dong Son culture, small stone tools from the Hoa Binh culture, and sea mollusc shells and stream snails.

The Tam Chuc Complex spans over 5,000 hectares and includes major landmarks such as Tam The Hall, Dharma Master Hall, Avalokitesvara Hall, and Jade Tower. The complex has hosted the United Nations Vesak Celebration in 2019, further cementing its importance on the global stage.

The Co Le Pagoda, also known as Than Quang Temple, was founded during the Ly dynasty (12 century). The nine-story Lotus Tower in Co Le Pagoda stands 32 meters tall and is a rare architectural symbol in Vietnam. The Co Le Festival, held in September on the lunar calendar, attracts tens of thousands of visitors to Co Le Pagoda.

The recognition of Tam Chuc and Co Le as special national monuments honours the past values and entrusts local communities with the responsibility of preservation and promotion. The investor behind the Tam Chuc complex is Xuan Truong Construction Enterprise, the same company that organised the Trang An Festival 2024.

Ninh Binh, with its UNESCO World Heritage Site and special national monuments, is a must-visit destination for those seeking a blend of natural beauty, historical significance, and cultural experiences. It ranks 4th in the top 10 less-visited wonders of the world, making it an off-the-beaten-path destination for many travellers. With its rich heritage and untouched beauty, Ninh Binh promises an unforgettable journey for those who venture there.
