Plane journey from Dubai to Taiwan steered off course due to inability to touch down in Hong Kong.

Emirates Flight EK382, operated by a Boeing 777-31H(ER) aircraft registered as A6-EPU, faced landing difficulties during its scheduled arrival in Hong Kong on Tuesday. According to reports from aviation news outlet Aviation A2Z, the aircraft made at least two unsuccessful landing attempts before being diverted to Kaohsiung International Airport in Taiwan.

The crew and passengers on board the flight spent the night in Kaohsiung before returning to Hong Kong on the same plane the following day. The return flight from Kaohsiung to Hong Kong took place on Tuesday.

Aviation A2Z reported that weather conditions in Hong Kong, including sustained winds of about 12 knots, may have contributed to the landing difficulties. An aviation observer suggested that these conditions could have played a role in the difficulties experienced by Flight EK382. However, without official weather data from aviation authorities or meteorological reports, the exact weather conditions during EK382’s landing attempts remain unspecified.

Typical factors that might complicate landings at Hong Kong International Airport include strong crosswinds, low visibility due to fog or haze, rain, thunderstorms, or wind shear. Nevertheless, without definitive evidence, it remains unclear whether these factors were present during the landing attempts of Flight EK382.

Prior to the diversion, the aircraft circled over Hong Kong and its surroundings before being unable to land. Emirates has not yet issued a statement regarding the incident.
