Prohibited Items at Oktoberfest 2025 on Wiesn
In the heart of Munich, the world-famous Oktoberfest is gearing up for another year of festivities. To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all, there are certain rules regarding what you can and can't bring onto the Theresienwiese.
First and foremost, food is welcome in the beer gardens. Feel free to pack your own snacks to enjoy alongside the traditional Oktoberfest beers.
When it comes to personal items, medical devices, walking aids, and umbrellas can be taken in at any time. However, they will be inspected before entry and tagged with a security check sticker.
For safety reasons, weapons, including traditional knives and any objects that can be used as a striking, stabbing, or piercing weapon, are prohibited. This also applies to e-scooters, which may not be parked or ridden within the outer barrier. E-scooter collection points are set up for this purpose.
Parents can bring strollers only until 6 pm from Sunday to Friday. On Saturdays and the German Unity Day (3rd October), strollers are not allowed on the Theresienwiese. Baby carriers for young children are always allowed.
Large bags or suitcases are not permitted onto the Oktoberfest grounds. Bags must have a maximum capacity of three liters or not exceed the dimensions of 20 x 15 x 10 centimeters. Security staff at the entrances will check the bag size and possibly the contents.
Metal detectors are now used at the Oktoberfest entrances for added security. Pepper spray cans, hairspray, and deodorant are prohibited items.
To navigate the festival, bicycles, e-scooters, skateboards, and similar vehicles are not allowed on the Oktoberfest grounds. Only assistance devices for medical use are permitted and marked accordingly. Dogs are also prohibited, except for guide and assistance dogs.
For those concerned about the weather, cheap rain ponchos from the drugstore are recommended. Four water dispensers are conveniently located on the Oktoberfest grounds for refilling bottles, and a packet of tissues can make your Wiesn visit more comfortable.
Please note that glass bottles are not allowed on the Oktoberfest grounds. Luggage can be deposited at the entrances P1, P5, P8, and P10 for a fee.
Mint drops can be useful if beer or onion-laden food causes discomfort. With these guidelines in mind, you're all set for an unforgettable Oktoberfest experience!
