Rachel reinforces her commitment to backing children in the Gaza region.

In a recent interview, popular children's content creator, Rachel Griffin Accurso, notably known as Ms. Rachel, defends her advocacy for Palestinian children, stating that "it's absurd that speaking up for kids in distress is seen as controversial."

With a colossal following of 14.7 million subscribers, Ms. Rachel's YouTube channel focuses primarily on teaching nursery rhymes, first words, and basic educational concepts to young kids, like colors and shapes. However, outside of her main channel, she's been vocal about the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which has persisted since Israel initiated its military response to Hamas' attack on October 7, 2023.

Ms. Rachel lamented about the backlash she's received for speaking out on behalf of Palestinians children facing unimaginable suffering. In an interview with journalist Mehdi Hasan, founder of independent publication Zeteo, she pointed out the absurdity of the controversy surrounding her advocacy.

Recently, the pro-Israel group, StopAntisemitism, called for an investigation into Ms. Rachel, alleging that she may be receiving foreign funding to promote anti-Israel propaganda. They also accused her of being an "amplifier of Hamas propaganda" and questioning the accuracy of certain statistics and images shared by her about kids in Gaza.

In her interview with Hasan, Ms. Rachel rejected the allegations of antisemitism, affirming that her empathy is not limited to any particular group of children. "Empathy knows no boundaries," she said, emphasizing her genuine care for all children.

Ms. Rachel, a mother of two young children, became aware of the precarious situations faced by the youngest children in Gaza, which she believes might have lasting effects on their brain development during the crucial first three years of life. However, she mentioned that her advocacy is fueled not only by her awareness as an educator but mainly by her empathy for the children in Gaza.

Since collaborating with humanitarian organization Save the Children, Ms. Rachel has gained insights into the conditions faced by children globally. She was shocked by the events of October 7 and has since used her platforms to bring attention to the human rights violations faced by children and to call for action.

Last year, Ms. Rachel faced online bullying after organizing a fundraiser for Save the Children's emergency fund for kids in conflict zones like Gaza, Sudan, the Congo, and Ukraine. Proclaiming her love and care for children of all nationalities, she reiterated her stance that focusing on the plight of a single group of children does not negate her concern for others.

Through her advocacy this year, Ms. Rachel has shared the stories of Palestinian children like Hind Rajab and highlighted the impacts of the ongoing conflict. "Our compassion should transcend all borders," she told Zeteo, "and we should stand together to uplift the voices of children who are suffering the most."
