Thousands Gather for the 25th World Meeting of Citroën 2CV Fans

The 25th World Meeting of Citroën 2CV fans, held near the Postojna Cave in Slovenia, brought together more than 3,000 classic cars and enthusiasts from around the globe[1][3]. From July 29 to August 3, 2025, the event celebrated the enduring cultural and artistic value of the Citroën 2CV, a beloved car known for its simplicity and charm[1].

Organized by over 300 volunteers at an airfield near Postojna, approximately 50 kilometers south of Ljubljana, the gathering offered a vibrant social atmosphere reminiscent of a large, harmonious party[1][2]. Camping areas, live music, parades of 2CVs driving together horn-honking, and shared repair and restoration knowledge were just a few of the highlights[1].

Many participants were drawn to the event by the creative freedom offered by the 2CV, which fans often customize in unique and colorful ways[1]. From extended limousine-style versions to vehicles adorned with loudspeakers and whimsical motifs such as giant ducks on the roof, the 2CV serves as a "white canvas" for personal creativity[1].

The event also fostered a close-knit community where newer fans learned car maintenance skills from experienced owners, reflecting the car’s DIY spirit[1]. For instance, Jamie, a 26-year-old freelance artist from Hamburg, Germany, drove her 2CV to the event and was learning to repair it herself with the help of her boyfriend, Mike[1].

Despite the passage of time, the event attracted many participants born after 2CV production stopped in 1990, indicating a renewed interest in the vehicle[1]. Aleksandar Dincic, a 16-year-old from Serbia, expressed admiration for the 2CV and was promised one for his 18th birthday[1].

Gabriele Salvoni, a 55-year-old Italian, attributed the simplicity of the 2CV to its self-repairability[1]. Salvoni and his friends took a 400-kilometer trip to Postojna, driving at speeds of 49 to 55 mph, allowing faster Italian supercars to pass them[1].

Karmen Uglesic, one of the event organizers, stated that the gathering offers a stress-free way of life[1]. Uglesic, who has over 20 years of experience working with politicians and managing events in Slovenia, attributes her mental well-being to her passion for the Citroën 2CV, nicknamed "Spacek" or "little freak" in Yugoslavia[1].

The campground resembled a series of simultaneous parties in harmonious coordination, with participants singing along to music from their loudspeakers as they passed each other[1]. Columns of cars often formed and drove along the main "road" separating the two sides of the camp[1].

The 25th World Meeting of Citroën 2CV fans is a significant global celebration of a classic automotive icon, a platform for creative expression, community bonding, and shared enthusiasm across ages and cultures[1][3].
