Region honors province with designation: 61 tourism-centric municipalities in Astigiano
In a significant move for regional tourism, the town of Castagnole Lanze in the Asti area has been recognized as a "Touristic Community" by the Piemonte region. This designation, which comes with a host of benefits and requirements, is aimed at enhancing the tourism appeal of the town and the wider region.
Castagnole Lanze, a territory that has grown together to appeal to tourists, is now part of a list of 515 Piemonte towns sharing the same distinction. The transformation of the town, marked by investments made possible by the tourist tax, has resulted in a sought-after destination that offers both beauty and useful services for tourists.
According to Carlo Mancuso, delegate councilor and mayor of Castagnole Lanze, this recognition is a well-deserved 'touristic' title. He encourages visitors to see the improvements the town has undergone in recent years. Mancuso emphasizes the services available in Castagnole, from shops to the post office, to the ASL.
The Region's certification process takes into account a town's ability to provide services, in addition to cultural heritage, accommodation capacity, and typical products. Maurizio Rasero, President of the Province, commented that this recognition is significant for regional tourism, and he highlighted the benefits of the tourist tax, which has allowed investments in promotion and joining the ATL, making the territory known to tour operators.
The recognition of "Touristic Communities" by regional authorities like Piemonte typically involves criteria linked to established tourism infrastructure and cultural, historical, or natural assets, the ability to offer services that enhance visitors' experience, commitment to promoting sustainable and quality tourism development aligned with regional plans, and demonstrating local community and business involvement in tourism promotion.
For the Asti-area towns in Piemonte, such recognition would likely aim to capitalize on the area's historical wines and gastronomy, enhancing their tourism appeal. The Region has recognized 61 Asti-area towns as "Touristic Communities," including Canelli, Costigliole, Nizza Monferrato, Moncalvo, Serole, Tonco, Belveglio, and Tigliole.
This recognition is expected to make the region even more attractive to tourists, boosting local economic growth and providing opportunities for tourism development and marketing. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the local communities and businesses in the Asti area and a promising step towards a more vibrant and sustainable regional tourism industry.
