New Luxury Safari Accommodation Opens in the Serengeti

Exciting news for travel enthusiasts! Two new luxury safari properties are set to open in the Serengeti, Tanzania, offering unique experiences for guests seeking adventure and exclusivity.

Firstly, the Mapito Safari Camp, an Autograph Collection property, is scheduled to open on September 15, 2025. This camp, positioned near the Fort Ikoma gate of the park along the Great Migration route, promises a luxurious safari experience. Nightly rates start at approximately $891 for single occupancy and around $1,425 for double occupancy in October 2025. For those who prefer to use Marriott Bonvoy points, booking requires at least 145,600 points per night for two people. Reservations are now open, allowing bookings for the opening period and beyond.

The Mapito Safari Camp will offer a range of amenities, including a spa, a fitness center, a swimming pool, and several dining options. One dining option will be a restaurant inspired by traditional bonfires. Each suite will feature an outdoor deck, a fire pit, and a retractable roof. Guests can enjoy daytime game drives, hot air balloon flights, bush dining, and engagement with a local tribe.

In addition to the Mapito Safari Camp, the JW Marriott Serengeti Lodge is set to open in 2026, featuring 30 private suites with private swimming pools. More details about this property will be revealed as the opening date approaches.

For those preferring a Kenyan safari experience, the JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge is already open. The Ritz-Carlton, Masai Mara Safari Camp, another luxury tented safari camp in Kenya, is not yet open but has award bookings available for next year, starting at 312,000 points per night.

These new properties, under the Autograph Collection and Marriott brands, are part of the growing trend of premium safari accommodations in the Serengeti. This expansion offers travelers more options for booking luxurious safari experiences with the use of Marriott Bonvoy points.
