Nestled in the rural village of Gagliano del Capo, on the southern tip of Italy, Palazzo Daniele has completed a recent renovation that aims to preserve its original character and history. Built in 1861, this boutique hotel served as the ancestral home of the aristocratic Daniele family for decades.

The renovation, led by Studio Palomba Serafini, has brought a series of rooms and a communal dining hall to the palazzo, while maintaining its historic essence. Gabriele Salini, a Roman hotelier, and Apulian art collector Francesco Petrucci, co-owners and operators of Palazzo Daniele, were involved in the sensitive renovation that took place in spring 2022.

The palazzo's original features, such as lush, palm-filled gardens, a central stone courtyard encircled by a series of weathered arches, and a sloping floor in the Royal Suite due to the vaulted ceiling below, have been carefully preserved. The communal living area, set in a former olive oil mill, now boasts a cathedral-like volume with tall arches and a gently curved ceiling painted entirely white.

The Royal Suite, once a kitchen and storeroom, has been transformed into a luxurious retreat. Its furnishings are luxurious yet spare, featuring powder blue sofas from Driade, custom neon lighting with Nassi Lamps, Tuareg mats, and antique books from the previous tenant's collection. The shortened doorway in the bathroom and the magic of the original rain shower have also been reimagined, now suspended above ten-sided custom stone bathtubs.

Each suite in the renovated wing is layered with patterned tiles, pastel-coloured walls, and vintage brass bedframes that reference the palazzo's past. The communal living area hosts a Pierre Paulin 'Osaka' sofa and a long black iron table with 20 vintage rattan chairs, providing a perfect space for guests to gather for drinks and activities such as yoga.

The latest renovation of Palazzo Daniele has not only preserved its historical charm but also added modern amenities, making it a unique destination for travellers seeking a blend of tradition and contemporary comfort. Palazzo Daniele is located at Corso Umberto I, 60, 73034 Gagliano del Capo, Italy.

First opened in 2019, Palazzo Daniele quickly gained popularity for its Art Nouveau-style frescoes, minimalist interiors, and unique design elements. This renovation continues to uphold that reputation, offering guests an unforgettable stay in a historic setting.
