In a significant development for the northern Italian city, Ryanair has established a base at Turin Caselle Airport, marking a strategic investment in the airport as part of its broader European network expansion. The move has contributed to an increase in tourists using the airport, according to Sagat's CEO, Andrea Andorno.

The airline's presence at Turin Caselle Airport is expected to have a positive impact on the regional economy, with the potential to significantly boost annual passenger volumes and create numerous direct and indirect jobs. While exact figures are not yet available, Ryanair's operational bases and route networks typically generate substantial passenger traffic and employment.

Ryanair's commitment to growing in the region is evident in its ambitious plans for the winter schedule at Turin. The company aims to reach 3 million annual passengers, representing a 30% growth, with the winter schedule being the largest ever for Ryanair at Turin Caselle Airport. This growth is supported by a $300 million investment, including the addition of a third aircraft based at "Pertini."

The growth at Turin Caselle Airport makes it easier for travelers to choose Turin for weekends or longer stays to explore the region, according to Sagat's CEO, Andrea Andorno. The operation at the airport has also improved Turin's standing on the European tourist map.

Domestic routes from Turin are seeing an increase in frequencies, with Brindisi increasing from 8 to 10, Bari from 10 to 13, Cagliari from 5 to 7, Palermo from 13 to 15, Reggio Calabria from 5 to 7, Lamezia Terme from 10 to 12, and Trapani doubling from 2 to 4.

The partnership between Ryanair and Turin Airport dates back to the first flight from London Stansted to Turin in 1999. The airline currently supports over 2,300 jobs directly and indirectly related to its activities in Turin.

However, Ryanair's CEO, Eddie Wilson, has expressed opposition to a "municipal tax" at Turin Caselle Airport, stating it hinders growth. If the tax were removed, Ryanair could invest an additional $4 billion, generate 20 million more passengers a year, open 250 new routes, and create 15,000 new jobs.

In recognition of Sagat's role in making the growth at Caselle possible, Ryanair's CEO, Eddie Wilson, has acknowledged the collaboration. The airline will offer 32 routes at Turin, with the addition of two new destinations: Liverpool and Pescara, the latter operating year-round. International routes from Turin are also seeing a boost, with London Stansted increasing from 11 to 16 weekly frequencies, Brussels Charleroi rising from 6 to 9, Madrid increasing from 4 to 7, Dublin from 3 to 5, and connections to Copenhagen, Malta, Porto, Marrakech, and Seville growing, all from 2 to 3.

After 25 years of success, Ryanair is committed to continuing to grow in the region, benefiting both the airport and the wider Turin area.

The increased number of flights and new routes at Turin Caselle Airport, facilitated by Ryanair's presence, could potentially enhance the average tourist's experience, providing more travel options for exploring the region. Additionally, Ryanair's predicted growth in the region, with the potential creation of 15,000 jobs and 20 million more passengers annually, could significantly influence the local lifestyle and economy.
