Securing Room Reservations via The Edit by Chase Travel now Grants Access to Hotel Rewards Points and Elite Perks
Hey there, travel junkies!
Exciting Times Ahead for Chase Cardholders!
Chase Travel, the premium cardholders' platform, now allows you to earn hotel points and elite benefits alongside your Chase Ultimate Rewards points. This memorable feature maximizes your rewards, but remember it's limited to specific Chase cards and properties (for the moment).
Here's a lowdown on everything you need to know about this exciting enhancement to Chase Travel.
Pro Tip: Check out our guide on maximizing your savings with the Chase Sapphire Reserve $300 annual travel credit.
Earning hotel points with The Edit by Chase Travel
The Chase Travel portal is a treasure trove for eligible Chase cardholders, such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and Chase Sapphire Reserve®.
If you’re wearing the right Chase card, access The Edit by Chase Travel, Chase’s luxury hotels platform (The Edit is not available to Chase Sapphire Preferred cardholders, by the way). Booking hotels via The Edit grants elitelike benefits like complimentary breakfast, room upgrades, late checkout, and a $100 property credit.
However, using Chase Travel typically means foregoing hotel points or qualifying night credits toward elite status through the hotel's loyalty program. But fear not! That seems to be changing at certain properties. Examples include Accor, Hyatt, IHG, and Marriott.
While filtering results for rewards-eligible hotels isn’t an option yet, most rewards-eligible hotels can be found under The Edit. If you click on an individual hotel to select your room, you'll witness another banner on the right, informing you that you can earn rewards from both the hotel and Chase.
And here's some fantastic news: You can net hotel points and elite night credits toward the next status level, even if you don't spend a penny! Just be sure to enter your hotel loyalty number when booking.
Pro Tip: Save yourself from earning zero hotel points when booking through online travel agencies.
Enjoying elite status benefits with Chase Travel
Historically, stays booked via Chase Travel were ineligible for elite benefits. For example, booking a Hyatt property through the platform would mean no elite status perks, even for top-tier Globalist members with World of Hyatt.
However, the tides are turning! Now, elite benefits are not only attainable for certain hotels on Chase Travel, but you can also access any benefits you've already secured with that hotel. This double-dipping of elite benefits could be extremely valuable!
This feature is accessible to all Chase cardholders, but the properties available depend on your card. If you don't have access to The Edit, you might glance at some rewards-eligible properties (including Omni), but you'll miss out on bigger names like Hyatt, IHG, or Marriott.
If you have access to The Edit through the Chase Sapphire Reserve, you'll enjoy a smorgasbord of options for earning hotel rewards.
For United cardholders, you can utilize The Edit's elitelike perks when booking through the old Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection website, but you won't net hotel rewards at many properties.
Pro Tip: Discover whether flights are more expensive to book through credit card travel portals.
Wrap-up
When you book hotels through Chase Travel, you're already earning bonus Ultimate Rewards points (5 or 10 points per dollar, contingent on which Chase card you own). With this new feature, you could also earn hotel points and elite benefits in your preferred loyalty program.
