Thrilling Journey Through Egypt's Landmarks
Egypt: A Spectacular Adventure Awaits
Embark on an extraordinary journey, where timeless wonders, endless deserts, and the mesmerizing turquoise of the Red Sea are waiting to captivate you. Piecing together memories of our trip, we eagerly share this story, hoping it inspires you to uncover the magic of this extraordinary place.
Discovering Egypt in Comfort
Our adventure unfolded in February, a month that presented ideal temperatures, ideal for sightseeing without the risk of heatstroke for those of us who hail from colder climates. October through April are the prime seasons for an Egypt escapade. In bustling cities like Cairo, Luxor, or Aswan, these months provide a refreshing respite from the scorching heat experienced in the summer months. However, from May to September, temperatures tend to skyrocket, reaching well over 40 degrees Celsius even in cities like Cairo or deep in the Valley of the Kings. If you're not a fan of heat or plan to spend lots of time outdoors, it's better to travel during the cooler months.
Treasures of Ancient Egypt:
- The Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx
From the moment we arrived, our gaze was fixed upon Egypt’s most iconic symbols. A once-in-a-lifetime experience as we stood in awe before these massive structures, leaving us breathless and moved beyond words. The Sphinx stands sentinel over the plateau, guarding with a mystery and dignity that remains unmatched.
- Egyptian Museum, Cairo
The urban melting pot of Cairo is a vibrant mix of chaos and history. We wandered through the Egyptian Museum, and we were blown away by the larger-than-life size and resplendent beauty of Tutankhamun’s golden mask – a sight that was even more awe-inspiring up close.
- Unforgettable Nile Cruise
One of the most enchanting aspects of our journey was the unforgettable Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan. We were picked up from our hotel and whisked away aboard a passenger ship. This river voyage was anything but a sterile sightseeing tour.
Our talented local guide, a knowledgeable Egyptophile who spoke fluent German, showed us hidden gems we would have otherwise missed, like the temples of Edfu and Kom Ombo, and of course, the incomparable Karnak Temple.
Red Sea Serenity
After soaking up history and culture, a dose of relaxation was exactly what we needed. We found it in Hurghada, where sun, sand, and turquoise waters were the perfect cure. Water sports enthusiasts will also appreciate the snorkeling opportunities that leave you speechless as you explore the underwater world. Other coastal towns like Sharm El-Sheikh or Marsa Alam offer equally enticing escapes.
