However, the German market is three percent behind the previous year's figure. But don't count TUI out yet, mates. Ebel reckons that bookings will pick up, and with travel prices averaging four percent higher than last year, things might just turn around. In fact, during the winter, TUI counted two percent more guests than the previous year. But remember, summer is the most crucial time for tour operators and airlines, as they usually struggle to turn a profit during the off-season.

The crisis hasn't deterred TUI, though. Ebel believes that people will continue to book their holidays enthusiastically, despite the trade conflict and the challenging economic climate. By the end of this financial year in September, TUI aims to boost its currency-adjusted revenue by 5 to 10 percent from the previous 23.2 billion euros, with an adjusted operating profit of 1.3 billion euros, a 7 to 10 percent increase. In the first half of the year, TUI managed to reduce its seasonal loss, with revenue increasing by almost eight percent to around 8.6 billion euros compared to the previous year. The adjusted operating loss shrank by 15 percent to 156 million euros.

So, whether it's the late Easter date, economic uncertainty, operational issues, changing travel trends, financial constraints, or a combination of these factors, there are plenty of reasons why TUI customers might be delaying their summer vacation bookings.
