Visitor Center Set to Debut in Tuyuk-Su Tract, Almaty
Almaty, Kazakhstan — The city administration plans to unveil a state-of-the-art visitor center within the Tuyuk-Su tract, a popular tourist destination. The press service announced the project on February 12.
The new facility, set to cost 380 million tenge (approximately $767,049 USD), will feature various amenities such as a guesthouse, café, pharmacy, equipment rental shop, souvenir store, and space for creative events. It also promises to offer electric vehicle transfer services to Medeu, ATV and bicycle rentals, guided tours, thematic lectures, and master classes.
The project aims to stimulate local eco-tourism growth, provide a comfortable recreation area, and attract more tourists to Almaty. The initiative is expected to generate 22 new permanent jobs and contribute to the local budget, with anticipated annual tax payments of 170 million tenge (around $343,153 USD).
Construction materials will prioritize environmentally-friendly options, and the center will implement a tourist registration system with route tracking features. The site will also provide free public restrooms and regularly hold safety briefings on mountain routes. Additionally, the possibility of housing rescue service personnel on-site is under consideration, with accommodation for up to eight individuals.
The Tuyuk-Su alpine camp, known for its cozy dormitories, already offers opportunities for hiking, camping, and other outdoor activities in the area.
