Visual Art Exhibition in Bucharest: Displaying Portraits from the Donbas Region by David Těšínský

## David Těšínský's "Different Beauty" Exhibition Expands to Bucharest

Following its successful run in Prague and other international galleries, the **"Different Beauty"** exhibition by Czech photographer David Těšínský is now on view in Bucharest, Romania. The exhibition, which shares the same name as Těšínský's first album released in 2022, continues to showcase the photographer's profound and evocative portraiture that challenges conventional standards of beauty and explores the diversity of human identity.

### A Glimpse into War-Torn Ukraine

One of the highlights of the Bucharest exhibition is a series of photographs taken in 2017, offering a glimpse into the everyday life in the war-torn region of Donbas. These poignant images depict women impacted by the conflict, capturing their resilience and strength in the face of adversity.

### The Story of Mihaela Minca

During his time in Bucharest, Těšínský also photographed Mihaela Minca, a traditional Roma witch with over 10k followers on Instagram. Minca's portrait is a testament to the diversity and uniqueness of the people Těšínský captures, emphasizing the beauty found in the unconventional.

### Exhibition Details

The **"Different Beauty"** exhibition is on view at Cărturești Carusel until July 15. Visitors can immerse themselves in the powerful images and stories that make up this thought-provoking exhibition, gaining a deeper understanding of the evolving definition of beauty in modern society.

### Těšínský's Journey

Těšínský's work focuses on people's stories, marginalized communities, and those impacted by social and political conflict. His photographic journey has taken him to tens of countries, including India, Nepal, Thailand, Japan, Cambodia, Guatemala, Mexico, and Belarus. In 2014, he was sent on a photo assignment in the eastern region of Ukraine by a curator, where he arrived unofficially in an army car.

Těšínský's experiences in Ukraine inspired him to change his plans and leave for India after initially considering staying in America. He has since documented the lives of soldiers, gang-related problems, Japanese businessmen, slum life, the LGBTQ movement, and various marginalized communities, always striving to capture the beauty in each subject's story.

### Upcoming Exhibitions

In addition to the Bucharest exhibition, Těšínský has upcoming exhibitions planned in Warsaw, Belgrade, New York, and Jerusalem. Each destination will feature local community events, artist talks, and workshops to foster deeper engagement and discussion around themes of identity, acceptance, and self-expression.

For those who can't make it to an exhibition, Těšínský's work can be found in his books and online, continuing to challenge perceptions of beauty and inspire conversations about self-expression and diversity.

The "Different Beauty" exhibition, currently on display in Bucharest, Romania, is a testament to David Teeshinsky's exploration of diversity in human identity, as seen in his series of photographs taken in the war-torn region of Donbas and in his portrait of Mihaela Minca, a traditional Roma witch. The exhibition is a part of Teeshinsky's journey, which involves traveling to various countries, capturing the beauty in marginalized communities and storytelling. Teeshinsky's work encourages thought about the evolving definition of beauty in modern society, and with upcoming exhibitions in Warsaw, Belgrade, New York, and Jerusalem, the fashion-and-beauty, lifestyle, and travel enthusiasts will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in his evocative portraiture.
