UAE Residents Can Now Work Remotely in Spain with the Digital Nomad Visa

UAE residents have a new opportunity to work remotely in Spain, thanks to the Digital Nomad Visa (DNV). This visa allows individuals to continue working for clients or companies based outside Spain.

To apply for the DNV, applicants must meet several key requirements and follow a defined application process. The visa targets non-EU remote workers employed by or contracting with foreign companies. The requirements include being at least 18 years old with no criminal record or previous visa refusals in the Schengen area, having valid private health insurance recognized in Spain, and proving a monthly income of at least €2,763 (200% of Spain's minimum wage in 2025).

The application can be submitted either through Spanish consulates abroad or from inside Spain if the applicant is legally present. If applying from outside Spain, an initial visa for one year is granted; within Spain, the initial residence permit lasts up to three years with renewal options. After arrival, applicants must register for a foreigner identity card (TIE) within 30 days.

The Bangladeshi passport has climbed up four spots in the latest passport rankings, compared to its 108th spot in 2021. In the same rankings, it has also climbed up a spot, now ranking 94th. Indian NRIs living in the UAE may need to file a tax return in India this year, even if they don't owe any tax.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Tourism has shut down 25 hospitality establishments in Mecca for breaching tourism regulations. On a positive note, Zaid Battal Al-Subaiee, who joined LuLu in 2009 as a security supervisor, has become a regional administration manager at the retail giant.

In other news, the Al Ain Court for Civil, Commercial, and Administrative Claims has revoked the custody rights of an Arab mother over her four children due to a criminal conviction. The court's decision highlights the importance of upholding the law and ensuring the safety and well-being of children.

The UAE government is also investing in infrastructure projects to improve travel within the country. A major road expansion project will start soon to reduce travel time by 45% on Emirates Road between Dubai and northern emirates. UAE residents will also have faster and smoother access to Schengen visa e-gates from October 12, 2025.

Lastly, online applications are now the primary and most effective way to access consular services, according to Pakistan's Consul General in Dubai, Hussain Mohammed. He has urged members of the Pakistani community in UAE to use online services for passport and ID card applications to avoid long queues.

In summary, the DNV offers a valuable opportunity for UAE residents to work remotely in Spain. To make the most of this opportunity, it's important to ensure that you meet the income and professional requirements, have the required insurance and documentation, apply via consulate or within Spain, and prepare to fulfill residence duration and social security conditions for renewal.

  1. The Digital Nomad Visa (DNV) is not only an opportunity for UAE residents to work remotely in Spain, but also a chance to immerse themselves in Spanish culture, travel, and lifestyle.
  2. With the DNV, UAE businesspeople can expand their network and collaborate with foreign clients, potentially leading to new ventures in the entertainment and travel industries.
  3. As news about the DNV spreads, it may also attract more documentary filmmakers and journalists to cover the experiences of these digital nomads, offering fresh insights into the world of remote work and travel.
  4. Political analysts may alsoexpressinterest in the DNV as a case study, examining its impact on the relationships between Spain and the UAE, as well as the global trend of remote work and its broader implications for economics, culture, and social dynamics.
