WSCC 2025 in Tashkent: Bridging Science and Action for Water Security

The Water Security and Climate Change Conference (WSCC) is set to return in 2025, this time in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from October 8 to 10. Organised by the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers (TIIAME-NRU) and the SDGnexus Network, this event aims to bridge the gap between scientific insights and practical action for water and food security.

The WSCC has a history of taking place in diverse countries, including Thailand, Germany, Kenya, Mexico, Vietnam, and Ecuador. The 2025 event in Tashkent continues this global tradition. The Institute for Hydraulic Engineering (LWI) at TU Braunschweig, a long-standing partner, is involved in the content design and will focus on strengthening societal resilience to climate extremes. This includes considering rural and urban structures, governance models, and individual coping strategies.

The conference will delve into various models, techniques, and instruments for predicting climate extremes and their impacts on central sectors. The LWI team will contribute three central topics: early warning of water extremes, impact assessments, and strengthening societal resilience.

The WSCC 2025 in Tashkent promises to be a significant event, bringing together stakeholders to discuss and plan for water and food security in the face of climate change. With its focus on practical action and the involvement of international organisations, it aims to make a tangible difference in the region and beyond.
