After a temporary closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Floating Gardens of Xochimilco, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular tourist destination for centuries, has reopened its doors to visitors in Mexico City. This historic attraction, renowned for its unique network of canals and traditional boats, called trajineras, is not only a sight to behold but also a home to various species of plants and animals, including the axolotl, a rare salamander species.

The reopening of the Floating Gardens of Xochimilco is a significant step in the city's ongoing tourism revitalization efforts. It follows the successful return of other tourist attractions in Mexico City, providing a much-needed boost to the local economy and creating employment opportunities.

In addition to the Floating Gardens, another exciting cultural event is set to grace the Ecological Park of Xochimilco this summer. The Mexicráneos 2025 exhibition, a colorful and cultural open-air museum celebrating Mexican identity and art, inspired by the Day of the Dead tradition, will transform the park into a vibrant space of culture and tradition.

This year, the Mexicráneos exhibition will feature **105 monumental skulls** on display, created by Mexican artists. The exhibition is known for moving locations and taking place at various venues throughout the year. For the summer of 2023, it marks a new venue surrounded by nature, distinct from previous locations such as Paseo de la Reforma and the Bicentennial Park.

The Mexicráneos exhibition in Xochimilco will also include workshops and related activities to engage visitors in the cultural experience. Alongside the exhibition, other upcoming events such as the Mega Day of the Dead Offering, the Mega Catrinas Procession, and the Alebrijes Exhibition promise to add to the vibrant cultural atmosphere.

Meanwhile, in other news, Hugo Aguilar Ortiz has been elected as the new President of Mexico's Supreme Court of Justice. In Durango, opposition parties are dominant in the 2025 municipal elections, and Pueblo Bonito has launched a luxury brand in Mazatlán and San Miguel Allende.
