Zambia's Minister Tours Kenya Data Centre, Calls for African Tech Collaboration

Felix Mutati, Zambia's Minister of Technology and Science, recently visited Kenya, touring the Africa Data Centres in Nairobi. This visit underscores the importance of digital infrastructure in Africa's digital transformation and the need for collaboration among African nations.

Mutati, who described Africa as the 'emerging new world' with vast opportunities, stressed the significance of reducing barriers to cooperation, such as power issues, for a connected Africa. He advised African tech leaders to learn from each other and collaborate promptly.

During his tour, Mutati was joined by Kenya's President William Ruto. Both leaders emphasized the importance of unity among Africa's IT leaders for digital transformation. Ruto, whose country is a front-runner in adopting digital technologies, highlighted Kenya's leading role in Africa's digital investment and transformation.

Mutati also expressed his intention to boost technological investments in Zambia, with a focus on robust digital infrastructure. He highlighted the responsibility of both leaders and citizens to seize the emerging opportunities in Africa.

Mutati's visit to Kenya and his tour of the Africa Data Centres in Nairobi, established around 2018, reflect the growing importance of digital infrastructure in Africa's digital transformation. With leaders like Mutati and Ruto advocating for collaboration and investment, Africa is poised to capitalize on its digital potential.
